Time To Start Working Out


So, I don't know if I've talked about fitness on here before but I think it's time I dedicate myself to something that will benefit not only my body but my mind as well.

I've told myself time and time again that I'm going to start working out again. I want to start running, doing yoga, doing workouts at home, eating healthy, etc. but I never actually commit to it. I have a hard time committing to pretty much everything. Work, school, eating well, working out, and pretty much whatever I want. I don't know if it's because I'm lazy or because I just don't care but we can all agree, I need to change that. I know I won't get anywhere in life with such a negative mentality. So, wanna join me?

My only goal is to do some form of physical activity everyday day. Either go running, do yoga, or anything I feel like doing for the day. I don't want to limit myself to just one thing because that's what really turns me off. I also believe that doing several forms of physical activities will motivate me to want to be active everyday.

3 Vegan Food Alternatives Worth Trying

Sometimes I can agree that veganism can be a bit expensive. Vegan cheese and deli slices are actually pretty pricey. Lets be honest, most vegan specialty foods are going to cost you a pretty penny. Unless it's one of those "accidentally vegan" products, which tends to be eaten by most people, and are pretty cheap to make anyway.

Here's the greatest thing though, if there's a high demand, it will hopefully be sold at a much lower! When I first started my vegan lifestyle I lived off rice, beans, salad, fruit, and lots of sandwiches. If I wanted something special like pizza, cake, or lasagna, I'd have to make it without all those fancy vegan meats and cheeses because I simply didn't know they existed. Aren't you glad you're going vegan when all these awesome products are available and pretty easy to reach?

So, here are three vegan food alternatives I think you should try, like ASAP! I've tried each of these at least twice and they've always hit the spot. I'm pretty impressed/proud that we're able to create food products that don't harm animals, the environment, and that actually taste good.

Pixi by Petra H20 Skintint Tinted Face Gel



Looking for a new foundation? So was it until I found this one by Pixi.

Since deciding I wanted to start wearing makeup again, I was on the hunt for something that has a little tint, a little coverage, but that looks and feels totally natural. Luckily, I found just that!

I was using the e.l.f. Beautifully Bare Foundation Serum but then there's this whole thing about makeup that's made/packaged in China isn't necessarily safe (I'll talk more about this in a later post) so I quit that one since I have pretty sensitive skin. Besides being made in China, it wasn't a bad foundation. It didn't look super great because I have some dry spots and acne so when I put the e.l.f. foundation on, it kind of looked gross.

Podcast of the month: June 2017


So, turns out I couldn't stay away from my blog for very long. It was nice feeling like I didn't have to update/post anything but I miss it. I miss writing and I miss just being here. Even if I don't have any readers, like people that come back to see what or if I've posted, I still love it! I just pretend that people are reading what I'm writing ;)

Anyway, I'm back with another podcast of the month. I've really been into mystery and murder podcasts. Is that weird? Probably not but I'm not too sure how many of y'all are into the same thing. I've been giving this whole blogging thing a lot of thought lately. I basically have an idea of what I want to do with my life career wise but I still dream of being a real life paid blogger. I think that would be pretty dope. Anyway, while I've been trying to figure out my life, I've started running, doing yoga, eating breakfast, and loving myself. Since I've been practicing a couple new self love things,  my acne has really started to clear up and I've even added a few new products to the mix, ditched an old favorite, and kept a few oldies.

Last week I wanted to kick off my new #makeitvegan series with a recreation of the Cheddar Corn Fritters by Buzzfeed but unfortunately, life happened I never got around to it. I originally planned on posting on June 1st, then on I pushed it to June 2nd, and now it's June 5th and I still haven't even purchased the ingredients I still need. Now my biology class started and it's going to take up even more of my time so I'll try my best to get that new series going. I'm so sorry for the delay if you were actually looking forward to that.

Soy-Free Vegan Protein


I think the number one thing I always got asked when switched to a vegan lifestyle and even after I made the switch was, "But, where do you get your protein?". That's also the number one question you might get asked as well so prep your answers now! Some people have a soy allergy and/or soy intolerance and finding other plant protein sources might be tricky if you're not sure. So, besides eating tofu, tempeh, and other soy based products, I've made a simple list to share with you other sources of vegan protein sources.

Several of the podcasts I was regularly listening to mentioned one particular podcast that apparently was amazing! I told myself I would listen to it but weeks went by and I still hadn't listened. This past weekend was my birthday, my younger sister came into town to surprise me and lo and behold, little miss Mary mentioned she also listened to this particular podcast and that I should definitely get on that ASAP!

First of all, why not?

What's holding you back from making a positive lifestyle change?

Is it your health, convenience, taste buds, culture, religion, lack of motivation to change, or maybe you're just not as informed as you'd like to be?

I get it. Although I was pumped when I decided that I wanted to follow a vegan lifestyle, I still had a lot of questions. I didn't know very much about it and I still wanted to make sure I would be healthy and happy while helping the animals, planet, and myself. There were also a lot of foods I thought I wouldn't be able to give up so maybe veganism wasn't the life for me.

But, here's the greatest thing about this lifestyle, there are so many vegan alternatives! Just by Googling "vegan alternatives" I found a bunch of results so it's really not that hard.

So, why vegan? Because not only are you helping your own health, you're saving so many innocent animals and our dying planet.

My Favorite Ways to Oatmeal: Top 5 Oatmeal Tips


Hands down, one of my all time favorite breakfast is oatmeal! The greatest thing about oatmeal is that you can pretty much add whatever you want to it and it usually turns out awesome and delicious!

Since I've been on this super huge oatmeal kick, I've tried a few different variants and I've pretty much loved them all. So many people have told me they hate oatmeals because it's bland/boring/tasteless and I totally get that. You have to add something, or many somethings, to make your oatmeal taste awesome. I love chili! It's probably one of my top five favorite meals. Usually, my go-to recipe is this one by Kathy. It's delicious and hardy and omg it's just bomb! It's super quick to make and always amazing even if I add or leave out something. Give it a go, it might be your favorite too!

Today I'm out of sweet potato and canned beans so I'm making my very own chili recipe from scratch. I have a dry lentil/bean mix that was bought in the bulk section on Sprouts and I want to get it used up.
